 Sensible Apprenticeship Program

   This is a program for the dedicated person with a passion to learn how to build a balanced relationship with a horse from start to finish.  The Sensible Apprenticeship Program is for almost any level of rider.  Whether you are fairly new to horses or have been riding all your life, this lesson plan will take you to a new level in your awareness of the horse and yourself.  If you want to gain more for just your own pleasure or enter into a career with horses, this program will equip you with the knowledge and experience to continue the journey to your goal.

   The Sensible Apprenticeship Program will take you from Day 1 in the round pen to the confidence and tools to finish your horse for your chosen discipline.  The beginning focus of hip, shoulder and directional control builds the foundation leading to spins, stops, backing, diagonals and flying lead changes among other maneuvers.  Other topics include emotional control for you and your horse, safely negotiating obstacles, trailer loading and even some trail riding before we are done. The Sensible Apprenticeship Program consists of four 2-week sessions with a 6-week practice period between each session.  Two horses will be required with at least one being well started.  The other may be anywhere from just halter broke to already started under saddle according to your ability with horses.

   The Sensible Apprenticeship Program is flexible enough to be completed in another format also.  It could be conducted on a Day Lesson plan spread over a 6 month period.  This would offer the option of using just 1 horse instead of 2. This could be done in your area if 3 to 6 people will commit to the program.  The main goal in developing the Sensible Apprenticeship Program is to give people a progressive plan for building a balanced partnership that blends the joy and romance of relating with a horse with the confident leadership necessary for your safety.  Come join us on this journey that will make your dreams a reality.
